Naples – Monitoring continues in Naples' iconic nightlife hotspots. Yesterday evening, the Vomero neighborhood was the focus of a high-impact joint operation coordinated by the Naples Police Headquarters.

The service, aimed at ensuring safety and compliance with administrative and health regulations, involved State Police officers, along with members of the Guardia di Finanza, the Local Police, and inspectors from the ASL Napoli 1 Centro.

The balance of road checks

Law enforcement initially focused on the flow of people and vehicles that thronged the streets of the hilltop neighborhood over the weekend. A total of 53 people were identified, including eight with prior police records. On the traffic front, 16 vehicles were checked, resulting in 14 traffic violations.

During the patrol operations, an individual was also fined for possession of narcotics for personal use.

Catering businesses targeted: seizures and heavy fines

The most critical aspect of the operation, however, concerned commercial establishments. Of the 13 businesses inspected, several were found to be non-compliant. Inspections by the local health authority (ASL) and law enforcement agencies uncovered "significant non-compliance" and administrative and health violations.

The measures adopted were severe:

Seizure of 160 kg of food products lacking traceability or preservation requirements.

Administrative fines totaling approximately €13.500.

Numerous requirements imposed on owners to restore legal conditions.

The operation is part of a broader enforcement plan implemented by the Police Headquarters to curb illegal activity related to the "movida" and protect the health of consumers, while also ensuring peaceful coexistence between residents and visitors to the neighborhood.

The operation in Vomero appears to have been an excellent initiative to ensure safety. However, there are many problems that need to be resolved in the restaurant industry, and more frequent checks are needed to prevent abuse.
