In the center of Sarno, a Carabinieri operation revealed a garage transformed into a criminal arsenal, stocked with weapons and drugs ready for sale. This case highlights the worrying expansion of illicit trafficking in the area and the effectiveness of the investigations launched by the Nocera Inferiore Prosecutor's Office.

In the heart of Sarno, a garage transformed into a logistical base for crime: on Thursday afternoon, law enforcement raided a drug and weapons cache, arresting two men in their 40s.

The operation, initiated at the request of the Nocera Inferiore Prosecutor's Office, involved Carabinieri officers from the Nocera Inferiore Territorial Unit, coordinated by Colonel Gianfranco Albanese, with the support of the Sarno Police Station and the Guardia di Finanza. The officers, following specific investigative leads, raided a garage on Via Prolungamento Matteotti, adjacent to a bank.

The blitz and the kidnappings

The investigation began almost by chance, sparked by a traffic stop. Officers intercepted a car carrying two women, who were found in possession of two kilos of hashish. The discovery prompted investigators to further investigate, focusing on a garage rented by a man (related to the two women).

Once the shutter was forced, the police found themselves faced with a real arsenal:

Drugs: 5 kilos of cocaine and another 5 kilos of hashish.

Firearms: 6 rifles, 5 pistols and a large amount of ammunition.

Explosives: 3 rudimentary high-explosive devices.

Precautionary measures

The operation concluded with three restrictive measures: the man and one of the women were transferred to prison, while the man's daughter was placed under house arrest. The defense team is now preparing for the validation hearing before the investigating judge, scheduled for next week.

Investigations underway

All the material was seized. The weapons are particularly under scrutiny: they will be subjected to ballistic tests to determine whether they were used in recent violent incidents or acts of intimidation in the area. The volume of the goods recovered suggests the existence of a logistics hub for large-scale drug dealing, but the network of supporters and the origin of the explosive devices are being kept under wraps.
