It all began at dawn on September 24th. A shocking sequence of attacks, delivered one after the other with such rapidity that left the victims little room to maneuver.
Five robberies in just a few minutes, a veritable raid that spanned Torre del Greco, Torre Annunziata, Boscoreale, and Boscotrecase. Today, that investigative circle has finally closed.
The man accused of causing panic at gas stations and pharmacies is a 48-year-old from Torre Annunziata. This morning, he received a new pre-trial detention order, issued by the investigating judge of the Oplonti Court at the request of the Prosecutor's Office.
A measure that reaches him directly in the Poggioreale prison, where he was already being held due to the initial developments in this affair.
The chronology of the hits
The investigation was a team effort between officers from the Torre Annunziata Police Station and the Carabinieri from the Trecase station. From the very first moments, the dynamics were clear: a single armed man, rapidly moving between neighboring municipalities, striking multiple targets with the same modus operandi.
Thanks to a meticulous analysis ("painstaking", as investigators described it) of public video surveillance images, the police managed to intercept the suspect on the very day of the first robberies, which took place against two petrol stations between Torre Annunziata and Torre del Greco, leading to his arrest red-handed.
The decisive evidence
But the investigators' work didn't stop there. While the 48-year-old was already behind bars, Carabinieri and police continued to dig into connections to the other three uncovered incidents: two attacks on gas stations and one particularly heinous attack on a pharmacy in Boscotrecase.
Three key elements nailed him down once and for all:
Eyewitness recognition: The pharmacy owner successfully identified the perpetrator.
The means of transport: Technical findings on the vehicle used for the getaway during the robberies.
Clothing: The clothes worn during the robberies, captured on camera, matched exactly those owned by the suspect.
With this new order, the Prosecutor's Office puts an end to a morning of violence that had shaken the entire Vesuvian area, confirming the seriousness of the evidence against the man, accused of robbery aggravated by the use of firearms.

This article explains the situation well, but there's a lot I don't understand, like why the man did all this. The police did a good job, but more security is needed in these places.
