NAPLES – Starting February 21, 2026, the Cumana line will resume full service from Montesanto to Torregaveta, thanks to the completion of safety work in the Monte Olibano tunnel, necessary after the July 2025 earthquake, thus ensuring a vital connection for commuters and tourists.
NAPLES – Starting February 21, 2026, the Cumana line will be fully operational again along the entire stretch from Montesanto to Torregaveta. This announcement was made by the Ente Autonomo Volturno following meetings with the Campania Region and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, part of the FS Italiane group.
Work on the Monte Olibano tunnel, necessitated by the damage caused by the magnitude 4.0 earthquake that struck the Campi Flegrei area on July 18, 2025, is now nearing completion. The work includes consolidation, safety measures, and technical checks to ensure the full functionality and safety of the section, thus allowing for the full reopening of service.
The Authority emphasizes that the completion of the work will allow commuters and tourists to once again travel without interruption between Montesanto and Torregaveta, restoring a strategic connection for mobility in the Phlegraean Fields and improving the overall reliability of the Cumana network.

It's good news that the Cumana line is reopening, but I hope there aren't any problems like in the past. Commuters need reliable, continuous service, so I hope the work was done well.
