Torre Annunziata – A busy afternoon on Corso Umberto I, where a jewelry store robbery was foiled thanks to the timely intervention of officers from the local police station.

Two men, a 44-year-old from Torre Annunziata and a 30-year-old from Castellammare di Stabia, both already known to law enforcement for property crimes, were arrested. They face charges of aggravated theft.

The alarm was raised yesterday afternoon when a report to the Operations Room alerted the police to the presence of thieves at a well-known business in the city center. Officers, conducting a patrol, quickly reached the jewelry store, intercepting the two criminals just as they were trying to disappear into the crowd.

The escape attempt lasted only moments: the officers stopped and searched them. In the two men's pockets, they found a case containing 71 recently stolen wedding rings, and a pair of 10-centimeter scissors, which they used to pry open the display case and grab the valuables.

The stolen goods were immediately returned to their rightful owner, while the two accomplices were arrested. The 44-year-old man's situation further worsened: he was also charged with illegal possession of weapons or objects intended to cause harm.
