In the Vomero neighborhood of Naples, an extraordinary Carabinieri inspection revealed a worrying increase in violations by delivery drivers, who are turning sidewalks into delivery lanes, endangering public safety and leading to eight fines and reports.
Naples – The Vomero neighborhood is like a high-speed racetrack, where rushing to get a home delivery seems to take precedence over public safety. This disturbing scenario emerged from the latest extraordinary patrol conducted by the Carabinieri in conjunction with the Local Police.
The spotlight has fallen on the galaxy of riders, an army of centaurs who, in order to respect the times dictated by algorithms, often trample on every rule of the Highway Code.
Deliveries at any cost: sidewalks invaded and wrong-way drivers
The results speak for themselves: eight riders fined for extremely serious violations. Some sped the wrong way through traffic, others mistook sidewalks crowded with pedestrians, elderly people, and families for bus lanes, and others drove completely unregulated.
Among those arrested, officers identified individuals without insurance, helmets, or licenses. In one extreme case, a single rider managed to collect all four violations simultaneously, turning his vehicle into a veritable loose cannon on the neighborhood streets.
The operation wasn't limited to the food delivery sector, but revealed widespread illegality among young people and teenagers in the hilly area. The numbers reveal an alarming reality:
Three reports of driving without a license: among these, a 15-year-old boy stands out, caught speeding on a 300cc scooter, a vehicle he could never legally operate.
Drugs and sanctionsFour people have been reported to the authorities for possession and use of narcotic substances.
Evening blood pressure: the phenomenon of road indiscipline reaches its peak in the evening hours, when the volume of deliveries increases and the risk to passers-by becomes critical.
Monitoring continues
The police intervention in Vomero will not be an isolated incident. The provincial command has already announced that monitoring of delivery riders and traffic in the neighborhood will continue intensively in the coming weeks. The goal is clear: to curb the "dangerous rush" that is transforming the commercial heart of Naples into a lawless territory.
