Naples – A low-cost airlift will connect the Gulf of Naples to Palma de Mallorca starting in May. Wizz Air has officially announced the opening of a new route from Naples Capodichino International Airport to the vibrant capital of the Balearic Islands, confirming its strong growth in investments in Southern Italy.
The first flight is scheduled for May 12, 2026, with departures scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Tickets are already on sale on the airline's website and app, with promotional fares starting at just €19,99. The goal is to meet the demand of travelers seeking a getaway to Spain's mild climate and exclusive beaches, offering maximum flexibility.
"Bringing the Gulf of Naples to the heart of the Balearics is a challenge we embrace with enthusiasm," said Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communications Manager for Wizz Air. "This route will break down the geographical barriers between two unique hubs of attraction. We will continue to invest decisively in innovation and the quality of service offered by the Campania airport."
The new route will be operated with the latest-generation Airbus A321neo aircraft, which ensure reduced fuel consumption and noise emissions. This move further strengthens Wizz Air's Naples base, where it already has two aircraft. In 2025, the airline carried over 797 passengers from Capodichino on nearly 4 flights, with a 17,2% improvement in punctuality.
"Wizz Air continues to demonstrate strong confidence in our airport," commented Margherita Chiaramonte, Aviation Commercial Director at Gesac. "We are confident that this new connection will be greatly appreciated by our catchment area, further enriching our international offering."
With this move, Wizz Air expands its range of destinations from Naples, which already includes hubs in Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East, such as Tel Aviv, Budapest, Sofia, and Sharm el-Sheikh. Domestically, the airline confirms its role as a key carrier: in Italy, it carried over 21 million passengers in 2025 (+8,85% over the previous year) on 263 routes from 26 airports.
The new Naples-Palma route isn't just another route: it's a sign that high-profile leisure traffic is the new front in air competition from the South, with Capodichino increasingly becoming a strategic hub for tourism in the Mediterranean basin.

The idea of a low-cost flight from Naples to Palma is appealing. I hope prices remain competitive and that passengers have more options. But I don't know if it will always be this convenient.
