A disturbing case of domestic violence that began over a decade ago in the province of Naples has come to an end in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Carabinieri officers in Sacile arrested a 54-year-old woman following a warrant issued by the Nola Prosecutor's Office for serious sexual assaults committed between 2011 and 2012.

A few days earlier, in Pordenone, the police had already executed the restrictive measure against the woman's husband, convicted of the same crimes.

Violence against the minor niece

According to investigations conducted by the Naples Carabinieri, the couple allegedly abused their niece, then fourteen, inside the family home in the province of Naples. The abuse, sometimes gang-related, was accompanied by the girl's progressive isolation from her family and social life, to the point of dropping out of school.

In particular, the uncle is accused of morbid attention and repeated abusive behavior, in which his wife allegedly actively participated on several occasions.

Plagiarism and threats with alleged esoteric rites

To keep the young woman silent, the two allegedly resorted to severe psychological manipulation, fueled by threats related to alleged evil spirits. According to investigators, the couple claimed to be in contact with dark entities that could harm the girl and her parents if she revealed what was happening.

A climate of fear that allegedly prevented the victim from reporting the abuse she had suffered for a long time.

Final sentences and transfer to prison

The trial concluded with the final conviction of both spouses for gang rape aggravated by the victim's minor age. The woman will serve a sentence of 4 years and 10 months in prison and has been transferred to the Trieste prison.

Her husband, arrested in recent days in Pordenone, was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison.

It's truly disturbing that these abuses continued for so long without anyone intervening. The niece's situation is particularly sad and makes one reflect on the importance of child protection.
