Afragola – Five young men, aged between 14 and 20, have been arrested by the State Police on charges of kidnapping, robbery, and illegal possession of a weapon. The arrest warrant was executed Wednesday evening by officers from the Afragola Police Station.
The investigation stems from a robbery that occurred on January 20th, when a man, while driving along Corso Enrico De Nicola, noticed a car approaching at high speed. Five young men were inside, and after exiting the vehicle, they chased the man to Via Vittorio Alfieri.
Here, the victim was subdued and attacked with kicks and punches, then forcibly loaded into the car. During the attack, at gunpoint, the assailants seized the man's cell phone, resulting in a swift kidnapping.
After a few minutes of terror, taking advantage of a stop in Via De Gasperi, the victim managed to free himself and escape from the car, finding refuge inside a commercial establishment.
The investigation, supported by analysis of images from video surveillance systems in the area, allowed the police to identify and track down the alleged perpetrators in the Salicelle district.
Yesterday, following the validation of the arrest, the judicial authority ordered the pre-trial detention of four of the suspects, while the fifth was placed under house arrest.
