Afragola awoke on New Year's Day to a disturbing episode that remains unclear. On New Year's morning, on Via Caracciolo, a resident found several spent shell casings on the asphalt and, a little further on, road signs visibly damaged by gunshots.

After documenting the incident with photographs, the resident sent a report to MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, requesting full investigation into what happened in a residential area of the city.

Borrelli himself and Salvatore Iavarone, a representative of Europa Verde in Afragola, spoke out about the incident: "We are calling for an immediate and thorough investigation to clarify the nature of this incident. We need to understand whether this was yet another irresponsible New Year's Eve 'madness' or whether we are dealing with an act of intimidation against some residents."

"In both cases," they continue, "we are talking about extremely serious and unacceptable acts. Shooting wildly in the middle of a street seriously endangers the safety of citizens. Those responsible for such acts must be identified and punished without hesitation."

Finally, Europa Verde reiterates the need to ensure the safety and protection of those who report incidents of illegality: "The protection of individuals and those who report dangerous situations, especially in complex areas like Afragola, must be an absolute priority for institutions."
