The wild boar emergency in Sarno has now spread beyond the countryside and green spaces into the heart of the city. In recent months, groups of four or five animals have been roaming with alarming frequency, even in broad daylight, along Corso Umberto I and near homes, creating a serious public safety and hygiene problem.

The alarm was raised and institutional action was called for by Don Ciro Zarra, parish priest of the Church of San Sebastiano, who has always been attentive to the needs of the community. Thanks to his urgent reports, the Campania Region decided to take action, conducting an initial inspection of the affected area at the end of December, within the Sarno River Regional Park.

The regional authority has now expressed its willingness to identify effective solutions to contain the phenomenon. The uncontrolled proliferation of wild boars, encouraged by the lack of natural predators, requires urgent and coordinated interventions.

The risk to people's safety is real: animals, especially when in the presence of puppies, can exhibit unpredictable and aggressive behavior.

The incident, brought to light by Don Zarra's civic commitment, highlights the need for land management that balances environmental protection with the safety of residents, who are increasingly exposed to dangerous encounters with wildlife. The ball is now in the Region's court, which is called upon to translate the assurances provided after the inspection into concrete action.

The wild boar situation in Sarno is truly worrying; I saw a group passing near my house. It's important that the region take swift action to address the problem before any incidents occur.
