On the night between Saturday and Sunday, the Sanità district of Naples experienced yet another tragedy when two young men were shot in Vico Lammatari, highlighting the ongoing violence in the neighborhood and drawing the authorities' attention to youth violence.

Naples – The night returns to speak the language of guns in the Rione Sanità, a neighborhood suspended between beauty and fear, where the silence is often shattered by gunfire.

It was just after 2:00 a.m. when a burst of gunfire ripped through the air near Vico Lammatari, one of the neighborhood's narrowest and most popular alleys. Two young men, both very young, were left on the ground, struck by the bullets.

The most seriously injured is PR, born in 2006 and a resident of Giugliano, who was shot in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital and admitted to intensive care, where he is fighting for his life. The other young man, MA, born in 2005 and also from the Sanità area, is in less serious condition. He was shot in the arm and was treated by paramedics before being released.

Police investigation: clash between child gangs in the background

Once again, the neighborhood awoke to sirens, flashing blue lights illuminating the ancient walls, and the unanswered questions of residents peering out of their windows. In Sanità, night is never just night: it's a fine line between normality and tragedy, between kids growing up too fast and streets that continue to be the scene of violence.

The State Police are investigating the incident, working to reconstruct the dynamics of the attack and understand the context in which the shooting occurred. No hypothesis has been ruled out at this time. Blood remains on the asphalt, and yet another alarm has been raised, casting renewed light on a neighborhood where tension is constant and peace remains fragile.

It's a very sad situation happening in Naples, but the authorities should do more to stop this violence among young people. It's important that children can grow up in a safe environment without fear of harm.
