The America's Cup in Naples has taken a decisive step forward in terms of operations and infrastructure. A large portion of state-owned maritime land in Bagnoli has been formally handed over to the Special Commissioner, destined to house the facilities required for the world's most prestigious sailing competition.

The administrative act was signed yesterday at the Naples Prefecture by Gaetano Manfredi, Special Commissioner for the Bagnoli-Coroglio Area of Significant National Interest and Mayor of Naples, and by Admiral Giuseppe Aulicino, Head of the Naples Maritime Department and Maritime Director of Campania, inspector general, in the presence of Prefect Michele Di Bari.

Over half a million square meters of land and sea

The handover covers a vast state-owned maritime area comprising approximately 175.000 square meters of land and approximately 354.000 square meters of adjacent waterfront. These spaces will be used for the construction of the infrastructure necessary for the event, including the teams' operational bases and organizational support facilities.

Ministerial authorization and time constraints

The operation was previously authorized by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and is considered essential for the public administration, through the special commissioner, to proceed fully and effectively with the planned works. The works must be carried out according to the previously approved projects and within the timeframe compatible with the competition calendar.

Safety and coordination of activities

The handover of the areas is subject to strict regulations, designed to ensure the highest safety standards during construction operations. Gaetano Manfredi will coordinate all construction activities, ensuring coordination between the various parties involved.

Temporary use and return to public service

As an official statement specifies, this is an administrative procedure that is not burdensome for the public administrations involved and will last only for the duration of the temporary use of the areas. Upon completion of the America's Cup activities, the spaces will return to their original public use and will be fully managed by the Maritime Administration.
