Pomigliano d'Arco – An explosion in the middle of the night woke residents of Via Passariello. It was just after 4:00 a.m. when unknown assailants targeted the ATM at the BNL branch, blowing it up with explosives.
The heist, however, failed: the ATM was damaged by the explosion, but the criminals were unable to remove it or steal the cash inside. Immediately after the explosion, the perpetrators disappeared without a trace.
Carabinieri from the Pomigliano d'Arco station and the Castello di Cisterna mobile radio unit responded to the scene, conducting investigations and securing the area. No injuries were reported.
The incident follows a worrying trend: it is the third attack on an ATM in less than a week in the province of Naples, following similar incidents reported in recent days in other municipalities in the hinterland.
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators are reviewing video surveillance footage and assessing any possible connections between the recent nighttime raids.

The explosion in Pomigliano d'Arco is a very serious event, but I don't understand how the criminals couldn't steal the ATM. They obviously had a plan, but it didn't work out.
