The recent acquittal of Antonino Ponticorvo, a businessman from Alvignano, marks a turning point in a case that has rocked the local dairy industry, revealing how appearances can be deceiving and underscoring the importance of a solid defense when faced with serious charges.

Alvignano – Antonino Ponticorvo, 43, a dairy and butter-producing entrepreneur from Alvignano, has been acquitted of aggravated receiving stolen goods.

The sentence was pronounced this afternoon by Judge Carla Montanaro of the Second Section of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, who fully accepted the defense's arguments.

Ponticorvo was represented by lawyers Gaetano and Raffaele Crisileo. The public prosecutor, however, had a different opinion, requesting that the businessman be sentenced to two years in prison and a fine of €800, without a suspended sentence.

The events date back approximately three years. At the center of the investigation was the theft of a truck loaded with approximately thirty pallets of curd, worth over one hundred thousand euros. The goods, owned by an entrepreneur from Angri, were destined for a dairy company in Benevento. After the theft was reported, the vehicle was diverted to an area in the upper Caserta province.

The investigation was initiated by the judicial police team of the Naples Fuorigrotta Highway Police, under the coordination of the Deputy Public Prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Gionata Fiore.

Investigators ordered the acquisition of the vehicle's Telepass records and the analysis of a series of telephone contacts deemed relevant. The investigation led to the discovery and seizure of a large quantity of curd inside the cold storage rooms of a warehouse in Alvignano, traced to the Ponticorvo family.

During the trial, however, the defense managed to demonstrate that the entrepreneur was not involved in either the theft or awareness of the illicit origin of the goods.

According to what emerged in court, Ponticorvo acted in complete good faith, resulting in him being the victim of a scam orchestrated by the truck driver and unknown accomplices.

In light of these factors, the Court pronounced the acquittal, putting an end to a legal case involving one of the well-known names in the dairy sector of the Upper Caserta area.
