A fully equipped medical office operating within a private residence, yet lacking any health, administrative, or tax authorization. This is what officers from the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) station in Baiano discovered during an inspection that led to the filing of a complaint against a female medical doctor, who, however, was found not to be registered with the professional association and unknown to the tax authorities.
The intervention of the Guardia di Finanza (Italian Finance Police) uncovered a veritable clandestine clinic, equipped with professional electromedical equipment and stocked with large quantities of pharmaceutical products. This business was carried out completely without legal requirements, without a VAT number or any health authorization, and operating outside of any legal framework.
According to the findings, the professional practiced medicine illegally, creating unfair competition against her regularly registered colleagues and, above all, exposing patients to potential health risks, without the guarantees ensured by the supervision of professional associations and competent authorities.
Following the investigation, the person responsible was reported to the judicial authorities for the crime of unauthorized practice of a profession, as provided for by Article 348 of the Criminal Code. The medical office, along with the equipment and medications found, were seized. This operation is part of the Guardia di Finanza's efforts to protect not only state revenues, but also public health and the proper functioning of the services market, in accordance with the principle of the presumption of innocence until a final verdict.
