Aversa – A nine-year-old boy was nearly killed in the violence of the New Year's Eve celebrations in the heart of Caserta. On the night between December 31st and January 1st, the minor suffered minor injuries to his right hand from a stray bullet in Aversa.

Carabinieri officers from the local Carabinieri Company's Operations and Radiomobile Unit responded promptly to the scene. They found a detonated projectile nearby, likely from a firearm, and are now investigating the source of the explosion. The child, rushed to Moscati Hospital in Aversa, was treated for a superficial wound and released in the early hours of the morning.

A "silent" New Year's Eve thanks to the controls

According to the press office of the Provincial Carabinieri Command, the Aversa incident represents the only significant news event related to the celebrations in the province. This is a significant achievement, the fruit of the intense prevention and repression efforts conducted by the force in recent months, in collaboration with the State Police and the Guardia di Finanza.

Record seizures against illegal firecrackers

The operations have yielded concrete results: two days ago, a ton of fireworks was seized in Mondragone; yesterday, a 46-year-old man was arrested in Castel Volturno, found in his home with dozens of homemade explosives, including 20 "cipolle" and 32 "cobra" bombs. Another raid occurred in Santa Maria a Vico, with a thousand fireworks illegally held by an unlicensed vendor reported.

These interventions have drastically reduced the number of firecracker injuries in the province of Caserta, confirming the positive trend of recent years and the effectiveness of local controls.

It's truly worrying that a child was injured during New Year's Eve celebrations, but it's also good that there were fewer accidents this year than in previous years. We must continue to carry out checks to protect the public.
