Giugliano – His youth, despite his marked criminal tendencies and violent nature, played a nasty trick on him. The 15-year-old robber from Giugliano, arrested this morning by the Carabinieri for a robbery committed on December 2nd at a supermarket in Melito, made a rookie mistake that allowed the police to quickly identify him.
After the robbery and during his escape, the 15-year-old threw away a jacket. Nothing unusual so far. Many do this to eliminate any potential identification through clothing. But the young robber had forgotten that inside there was still a label from a dry cleaner where his mother had perhaps taken the item with the boy's surname.
This recklessness proved crucial to his identification. He, who has no criminal record, was admitted to a rehabilitation center. The order, issued at the request of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, was carried out by Carabinieri officers from the Giugliano in Campania mobile radio unit.
Thanks to the analysis of the video surveillance systems present and several witnesses, the police reconstructed that that evening the suspect—along with an accomplice currently being identified—had threatened the cashier of a supermarket in Melito di Napoli, Strada Provinciale, demanding that she hand over €1600 in takings before fleeing on a scooter.
