BENEVENTO. She was traveling in a car with €430 in counterfeit bills and attempted to get rid of them by throwing them to the ground after tearing them up. A 22-year-old woman, resident in Avellino, was arrested red-handed by Carabinieri officers from the Operations and Radiomobile Unit of the Benevento Company for possession and spending counterfeit banknotes.
The operation began late yesterday evening during a check of a Ford Fusion with a 37-year-old man, also from the province of Avellino, and the young woman in the passenger seat. Once out of the car, the 22-year-old attempted to get rid of some banknotes, immediately attracting the attention of the officers. Three 50-euro bills and four 20-euro bills were found on the ground, all of which were found to be counterfeit.

A subsequent personal search revealed four additional 50-euro bills, also counterfeit, on the passenger-side floor mat. The money, worth a total of 430 euros, was seized.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had no valid license due to its revocation. The man was reported, while the car, which was found to be uninsured and already registered under a fictitious registration, was administratively seized and placed in judicial custody by an authorized company. After the usual formalities, the 22-year-old was placed under house arrest.
