Last Sunday, Green Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli carried out a raid on Via Vincenzo Cuoco, in the heart of Chiaia. Here, the manager of a local parking garage was coordinating the illegal occupation of the blue parking spaces reserved for residents, defying traffic laws and law enforcement. Upon seeing the police, the man fled on a scooter, but investigations revealed his status: a convicted felon under house arrest.
Chain Violations: Threats and Widespread Illegal Activities
Residents' testimonies paint a picture of daily abuse. The individual not only "militarized" public land for garage customers, but also violated legal restrictions by staying on the streets. "He threatened honest citizens and dictated the law like a neighborhood boss," thunders Borrelli, who calls it "completely absurd: a convicted felon free to park illegally when he should be locked up."
Tax concerns and undeclared work: the numbers don't add up.
The Chamber of Commerce certificate casts a dark shadow over the business. A declared turnover of just €12 annually clashes with at least six permanent employees, including—residents report—a minor. "Tax evasion, undeclared work, employment of minors: a concentration of crimes," accuses the MP, who has already alerted the Guardia di Finanza and the Police Headquarters.
Borrelli's battle: "Immediate closure or we won't give up."
"We are held hostage by overbearing and abusive garages that defy the institutions," concludes Borrelli. "We demand the garage's indefinite closure and rigorous investigations. We will not retreat until Chiaia is freed from this arrogant lawlessness."
