Boscoreale – Diego Pagano, 40, has been released from prison and granted house arrest outside the region. The order was issued by the Salerno Court just over 50 days after he was sentenced to 8 years and 8 months in prison in early December.

Pagano, a resident of Boscoreale and assisted by the lawyer Antonio Usiello, was believed by investigators to be close to the clan linked to Rosario Giugliano, identified as a member (at the time a minor) of the Poggiomarino group and now a cooperating witness. According to the investigative approach, the gang formed an alliance with the Fezza-De Vivo clan of Pagani.

In the proceedings, the Salerno District Anti-Mafia Directorate—with prosecutor Elena Guarino—charges Pagano with concealing weapons and participating in extortion activities, with the task of identifying businessmen to subject to "protection" on behalf of the gang.

With the judges' decision, prison detention is replaced with a less punitive precautionary measure, to be served far from Campania.

It's strange how some people can get different sentences after such long sentences. Of course, justice sometimes seems unfair, but the court's decisions must be respected, even if we don't always understand them.
