The latest victim of a road that continues to claim lives, too often very young, is Dario D'Amato, a 20-year-old from Bracigliano, whose future was shattered yesterday afternoon on the asphalt of State Road 88.
The dynamics of the tragic impact
The accident occurred in the Pellezzano area, near the hamlet of Cologna. According to initial investigations by the local Carabinieri station, Dario was riding his motorcycle when, for reasons still under investigation, he suddenly lost control of the vehicle.
There was no time to brake or room for emergency maneuvers: the young man crashed violently into a metal railing at the edge of the road. The impact, described by emergency responders as extremely violent, threw him from his seat. When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, they could only confirm his death; his injuries were too severe and death occurred instantly.
A community in shock
For hours, a white veil covered the twenty-year-old's body, which remained on the asphalt awaiting clearance from the magistrate on duty. The wait was made even more excruciating by family circumstances: Dario's parents were reportedly out of the region for work.
The tragic ritual of identifying the body was performed by some relatives, who rushed to the scene of the tragedy as soon as they heard the news.

Dario D'Amato's death is not an isolated incident, but rather part of an alarming regional context. This first glimpse of 2026 has already brought a heavy toll on Campania, with a number of fatal accidents reigniting the debate over road safety and the vulnerability of younger road users.
