The Naples Court of Appeal annuls the confiscations from Cis Meridionale srl. The acquittal of former mayor Griffo is upheld; Alessandro Falco was sentenced to 4 years and 8 months for external complicity, but acquitted of the charge of fictitious registration.

Naples, January 27, 2026 – Convictions and acquittals, but above all the revocation of the confiscation of the Jambo shopping center in Trentola Ducenta (Caserta), seized in recent years for alleged mafia infiltration and considered by investigators to be "the safe of the Zagaria clan."

The First Criminal Section of the Court of Appeal of Naples, presided over by Eduardo De Gregorio, ordered the cancellation of the seizures against Cis Meridionale srl, the company that owns the structure, which thus returns to the owners' control.

Regarding individual positions, the judges upheld the acquittal of former Trentola Ducenta mayor Michele Griffo. Ortensio Falco was also acquitted "because the fact did not exist," a broader formulation than the one adopted in the first instance.

The Court re-sentenced Alessandro Falco, the former owner of the shopping center, to 4 years and 8 months in prison for external involvement in mafia association, with acquittal on the charge of fictitious ownership of assets.

In the first instance, Alessandro Falco was sentenced to seven years (on charges related to the fictitious ownership of company shares), while Griffo and Ortensio Falco were acquitted. The defense team consisted of lawyers Mario Griffo, Stefano Montone, Carlo De Stavola, and Alfonso Furgiuele.

The Naples Court of Appeal's decision is interesting, but there are many questions about how the confiscation can be considered revoked. I hope there are no future problems regarding these legal and mafia-related issues.
