Naples – A video conference was held from Naples with all Italian police headquarters operations rooms, along with a thank you message to those involved in New Year's Eve.
This is what Prefect Vittorio Pisani, Chief of Police and Director General of Public Safety, did this morning, connecting from the Operations Room of the Naples Police Headquarters with the Departments of the Highway and Railway Police, the National Anti-Cybercrime Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructure (Cnaipic) of the Postal Police, and the operations rooms of the Public Safety Inspectorates.
In a statement, Pisani expressed his "gratitude to the police officers on duty during New Year's Eve," emphasizing their commitment to ensuring safety "in cities, squares, and tourist destinations throughout Italy." He was welcomed at the police headquarters by Naples Police Chief Maurizio Agricola.
During his speech, Pisani thanked "the Minister for his constant and unfailing support" and extended "greetings to the General Commander of the Carabinieri" with a thought for the injuries reported in Turin during the night, recalling "their continued presence in the squares and streets."
Several related police commissioners also spoke. The Rome police commissioner highlighted a "particularly intense" year, while the Turin police commissioner recalled the work done, especially recently, in managing public order in the city and the Susa Valley, "with balance and firmness" to guarantee everyone's rights.
In closing, Pisani greeted the police commissioners of Sondrio and Belluno, who will soon be involved in public order management ahead of the Olympics: "This will be an opportunity to once again demonstrate our great professionalism during major events, as we have demonstrated over the past year."

The prefect's initiative is very important, especially during a time like this where safety is paramount. It's wonderful to see the police officers engaged, and the thanks are always appreciated. We hope they continue to work with passion.
I agree that safety is important, but sometimes there are too many officers around, and it can seem excessive. However, the prefect's message is clear and fair, recognizing everyone's work.
