Naples – The major cleanup operation in the city following the New Year's Eve celebrations began shortly after 3:00 a.m. Between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., over 600 tons of waste were collected from the streets of Naples, thanks to the deployment of a vast operational team coordinated by the City Council.
Asia staff intervened primarily in the areas most affected by the events, including Piazza del Plebiscito, the Lungomare, and Piazza Municipio, before extending their activities to other city neighborhoods.
A total of 1.400 workers were deployed, including 400 dedicated to manual street sweeping and 1.000 to waste collection, working in continuous shifts from 3:40 a.m. until late at night. Forty street sweepers and approximately 700 vehicles were also deployed.
At 6:00 a.m., workers from Napoli Servizi also went into action, cleaning the Galleria Umberto, the colonnade in front of the church of San Francesco di Paola, the portico of the Teatro San Carlo, and the stands of the Maschio Angioino. Meanwhile, the municipal social services, along with the Municipal Police - IAES Unit, provided assistance to the homeless in the area.
In the days leading up to New Year's Eve, the municipal task force for urban decorum had already prepared a series of preventive measures. ABC cordoned off the fountains near the event locations, including Piazza Municipio, Piazza Trieste e Trento, and the Rotonda Diaz.
Napoli Servizi secured light installations, temporarily moved some New Jersey barriers, and removed vandalism in the semi-circle of Piazza Municipio, while ANM installed temporary signs for the no-parking areas.
All activities were coordinated by the Permanent Technical Committee for Urban Decor, with the involvement of the relevant departments, municipal services, municipalities, and participating companies.

The post-New Year's cleanup was a huge undertaking, but there were some criticisms regarding how the busiest areas were managed. I hope that better measures will be taken in the future to avoid all this mess.
