At Naples Capodichino International Airport, an alert has been raised regarding illicit trafficking: during 2025, the financial police of the Capodichino Company and officials of the Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) – SOT Napoli Capodichino intercepted undeclared currency for a total amount exceeding 5 million euros.
According to the data released, the investigations resulted in fines and seizures totaling over €220, with measures affecting more than 200 passengers transiting through the Naples airport. The money was found primarily in carry-on luggage or hidden on passengers' personal belongings.
The checks, investigators explain, are the result of an analysis of traffic flows and risk profiles, combined with observation of passenger behavior during transit.

The contribution of specialized personnel with canine units trained to search for currency, the so-called "cash dogs", was also crucial to the operational activity.
At the same time, the joint ADM–GdF action also addressed the smuggling of foreign manufactured tobacco and drug trafficking: in 2025, a total of over 150 kilograms of smuggled tobacco and approximately 90 kilograms of drugs transiting through the airport were intercepted and seized.

But what laws do we have if I have money why do I have to tell the state?
The article is very interesting, but I don't understand how so much undeclared currency exists. Controls should be stricter to prevent this illicit trafficking, which is harmful to all citizens.
