Tomorrow, Cardito will celebrate the inauguration of the new municipal theater named after Maestro Peppe Vessicchio, a symbol of Neapolitan music, thanks to a €4 million investment that marks a significant step toward cultural development for the community.

Cardito lights up with culture: tomorrow, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 5:30 pm, the new municipal theater named after Maestro Peppe Vessicchio, a conductor who is a global symbol of Naples, opens. The project, funded with €4 million by the Metropolitan City of Naples, represents a concrete investment in local art.

Opening remarks will be made by Metropolitan Mayor Gaetano Manfredi, Vice President of the Campania Region Mario Casillo, and Mayor of Cardito Giuseppe Cirillo, also Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City. Cirillo and Manfredi will symbolically hand over the keys to the city to Alessia Vessicchio, the maestro's daughter, underscoring the family's deep roots in the Cardito community.

Neapolitan music takes centre stage

At 6:00 PM, the Choir of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples will perform. This will be followed by the show "Naples, Love and Beauty" by The Seven Neapolitan Tenors: an epic journey through eight centuries of Neapolitan song, from its medieval origins to 20th-century and contemporary classics.

The words of Mayor Cirillo

"With this dedication," Cirillo stated, "Cardito affirms its commitment to promoting culture and art, forever linking its theater to the name of Maestro Vessicchio, a symbol of excellence, professionalism, and love of music. It's a tribute to an artist who brought Italy to the world with passion and humanity."

What we know so far: The theater is not just a building, but a bridge between Neapolitan tradition and Campania's future. Funded by the Metropolitan City, it will become a hub for cultural events, honoring Vessicchio—a true Neapolitan, maestro of the Sanremo Music Festival and symphony director—and strengthening Cardito's identity in the heart of Campania.

The new theater in Cardito is a wonderful initiative, but I hope there will be more events, not just for one day. Neapolitan music deserves to be celebrated more often, and a theater is an excellent opportunity to do so.
