Nearly one hundred thousand euros in cash, some of it suspicious, and counterfeit banknotes already identified during initial technical checks. This is the result of an operation conducted by the Carabinieri in Carinaro, in the Caserta province, where two men were charged with "receiving stolen goods" and "possession of counterfeit banknotes."
The operation began in the late afternoon of January 28, following an investigative effort initiated by the military of the Gricignano di Aversa station and developed with the support of the Carabinieri Anti-Counterfeiting Operations Unit of Naples, a unit specializing in combating the circulation of counterfeit currency.
Upon completion of the investigation, the Carabinieri officers reported a 40-year-old and a 36-year-old man, both already known to law enforcement, to the judicial authorities. Personal and home searches uncovered approximately €98 in banknotes of various denominations, a sum for which no valid explanation as to its origin was provided.
In the same context, €550 in banknotes were also seized, which were found to be counterfeit after initial technical checks on-site. This fact strengthened investigators' suspicions that the counterfeit money had been inserted into a larger network, yet to be reconstructed.
All the money recovered, along with the cell phones used by the two suspects, has been seized. The funds will be deposited in the Single Justice Fund, while the devices and banknotes will be subjected to forensic analysis to clarify their origin, possible contacts, and possible distribution channels.
Investigations are continuing to reconstruct the exact origin of the money and determine whether there are further responsibilities or connections to other incidents of counterfeit currency circulation in the area.

It's strange that there is so much cash and no explanation, I wonder how it is possible that these two men were already known to the police but were not stopped before.
