A major internal security operation was carried out at Carinola Prison, where Penitentiary Police personnel intercepted and seized approximately 700 grams of narcotics, including hashish, cocaine, and crack, preventing their entry and distribution within the facility. The operation concluded with the arrest of one man.

The operation was completed under the recent leadership of the new management, thanks to the coordination of the Department Commander and the crucial contribution of the interview area operators, who are committed daily to monitoring the most sensitive areas of the facility.

Reinforced controls and seized phones

The operation is part of a broader framework of intensified checks. In the previous days, staff had already carried out additional operations that led to the recovery of numerous cell phones found inside detention units, devices often used to maintain illicit contact with the outside world.

This result confirms the Corps' high level of attention and professionalism, as it constantly fights against illegal trafficking within prison facilities.

Si.NAPPe: "An indispensable safeguard of legality"

The Si.NAPPe – National Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police – expressed its appreciation for the officers' work.

"The Carinola incident is further concrete proof of how the Penitentiary Police are an indispensable force for safety and legality," said Luigi Vargas, Deputy Secretary General of the union. "The success of the operation stems from professionalism, experience, and a spirit of collaboration—qualities that deserve full recognition and adequate institutional support."

“Behind the results, sacrifices and operational pressure”

National Secretary Pasquale Gallo agreed, emphasizing that "the discovery of such a significant quantity of drugs highlights the effectiveness of the control and prevention efforts implemented by the staff."

"Behind these results," he added, "are sacrifices, responsibilities, and constant operational pressure that too often goes unrecognized. Our sincere thanks go to the Carinola workers."

Coordination and timeliness

Finally, union leader Angelo Di Costanzo emphasized that "careful coordination of operations and constant supervision allowed for rapid and effective intervention." This action demonstrates how "when staff are able to operate with adequate resources and determination, the results achieved are truly significant."

The request for formal recognition

Si.NAPPe now hopes that the Prison Administration will formally recognize the commitment and excellent work of the staff involved, demonstrating the professionalism and dedication with which the Prison Police ensure the safety of the institutions and the community every day.

The Carinola operation demonstrates how important controls are to stopping drug trafficking. However, it's also crucial to recognize the work of the officers, who often work under difficult conditions and under pressure, without always having the right support.
