Casalnuovo – A textbook heist was neutralized overnight thanks to the swift intervention of security guards. No access was allowed to the Intesa Sanpaolo premises, only damage to the ATM.
On the night between January 2 and 3, 2026, around 4:35 a.m., a group of criminals attempted a robbery at the Intesa Sanpaolo branch in Casalnuovo di Napoli. The thieves damaged the ATM and the bank's exterior doors, but were prevented from gaining entry thanks to the prompt intervention of security guards (GPG), who were already in the area on patrol.
The GPG, working the night shift in Afragola (23:00 PM to 7:00 AM), received the alarm and responded immediately, alerting Intesa Sanpaolo's Control Room and the security operations center. Their action scared the criminals away before they could commit the theft.

Shortly thereafter, additional security patrols arrived on the scene, followed by law enforcement at 5:00 AM sharp. The result: limited damage to the exterior, no access to the premises, and guaranteed security for the branch.
The Carabinieri are examining the images from the bank's video surveillance system and are examining the traces left by the bandits inside the car used as a battering ram to trace their identities.
"Once again, the professionalism, local presence, and rapid response confirm the daily commitment of security guards to protecting people and property," said Giuseppe Alviti, national president of the Security Guards Association.
