Casandrino – A quick raid, a stampede with sirens blaring amidst terrified passersby, and the epilogue with handcuffs. This is the story of an afternoon of ordinary madness between Casandrino and Sant'Antimo, which ended thanks to the coordination between Carabinieri patrols, which allowed three alleged robbers, including a minor, to be brought to justice.
The assault and the research note
It all begins on Via Paolo Borsellino in Casandrino. Three men, their faces covered and weapons drawn, burst into a supermarket. The action is swift; by the time they've snatched the proceeds, the gang has fled in a Lancia Y. However, they're unaware that the vehicle's license plate has already been reported.
The Caivano operations center issued an alert to all units in the area: the car, reported as suspicious and carrying individuals armed with knives, was traveling at high speed in the direction of Sant'Antimo.
Six kilometers of fear
It's a matter of moments. A soldier from the Sant'Antimo station, receiving the radio call, visually intercepts the Lancia Y speeding ahead of the patrol. The chase begins: sirens, flashing lights, and extreme maneuvers for six long kilometers. The fugitives race recklessly, a gymkhana through busy streets and sidewalks, seriously endangering the safety of pedestrians.
The Carabinieri's network, however, quickly tightened: the Giugliano Mobile Radio unit arrived to support them, coming from the opposite direction and blocking every escape route, creating a perfect trap.
The attempted escape on foot and the arrests
Seeing themselves hunted, the three abandoned the car with the doors wide open and attempted to escape on foot. A last-ditch attempt lasted only a few meters: the officers' physical prowess prevailed. Guido Semprebuono, 19, Giacomo Grappa, almost 22, and a 17-year-old accomplice were arrested.
The searches confirmed the accusation: the three men were found with 900 euros stolen from the supermarket cash register, along with a screwdriver and a knife used in the threat.
The shadow of serial robbers
The trio faces serious charges: conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery, possession of a weapon, resisting a public officer, and receiving stolen goods (related to the car's provenance). While the two adults were taken to prison and the 17-year-old was taken to the Colli Aminei First Reception Center, the investigation continues.
Investigators are working to cross-reference data from four other robberies that recently occurred in the area. The modus operandi, the type of target (always supermarkets), and the vehicle used suggest that the gang arrested today may be behind a full-blown criminal network.
