In Caserta, a 71-year-old man was arrested after years on the run, highlighting how justice is unforgiving even for the elderly and drawing attention to a burning issue: domestic violence and drug dealing, which plague the community.

Caserta – Carabinieri from the Caserta station have put an end to the judicial fugitive status of a 71-year-old man from the capital.

Late in the morning of Saturday, January 17, 2026, officers executed a detention order issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Naples Court of Appeal – Criminal Enforcement Office. The man, who had received final convictions for serious crimes, was located and arrested without resistance.

Cumulative sentence: 5 years, 5 months and 28 days

The order imposes a total residual sentence of five years, five months, and twenty-eight days on the arrested person.

The convictions cover a wide range of crimes: from personal injury to mistreatment of family members or cohabitants, to drug dealing. These incidents, once final, made it inevitable for the Carabinieri to intervene to ensure their execution.

Escorted to the police station for formal procedures, the 71-year-old was immediately transferred to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison. There, he will remain at the disposal of the judicial authorities, pending further investigation. This case underscores the Caserta Carabinieri's commitment to combating domestic violence and drug trafficking in the area.
