Caserta – A routine checkpoint turns into a cinematic chase along the A1 highway, between Caianello and Marcianise, in the Caserta area. Highway Police in Caserta and Naples arrested a man for resisting a public officer and possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

According to the reconstruction, the Caserta Nord Highway Police officers had ordered a Smart to stop on the stretch of the A1 motorway in the municipality of Caianello, but the driver apparently slowed down abruptly in an attempt to avoid the check and then fled.

A chase ensued that continued for over 40 kilometers, during which two patrols from the Naples North Highway Police also intervened.

The fugitive rammed police cars twice

During his escape, the man allegedly rammed two police cars; despite the damage, patrols continued their pursuit until they stopped the vehicle in the Marcianise area. A subsequent search led to the discovery of two bags containing 19 heat-sealed blocks of white powder, weighing a total of 21,569 kg.

Narcotest tests carried out at the Interregional Scientific Police Office in Naples confirmed that the substance was cocaine.

The Prosecutor's Office emphasized that the seizure would have prevented a large quantity of drugs from being released onto the market. At the validation hearing, the investigating judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere ordered the suspect to be held in pre-trial detention.

It's incredible that things like this happen on the roads; people don't think about the consequences of their actions. I hope the police can do more to stop these dangerous situations and prevent accidents.
