Casoria, councilors raise the alarm: "Via Santa Croce has been closed for too long."

Questions were asked of the mayor and the relevant councilor regarding the state of decay in the city's historic heart and the prolonged closure of the road due to a dangerous building. They requested a clear timeline, structural interventions, and a comprehensive vision for the area's revitalization.

Casoria's historic center is once again at the center of the city's political debate. With a council question addressed to the mayor and the relevant councilor, political group leaders Alessandro Mariano Graziuso (Democratic Party) and Francesco D'Anna (Dream and Freedom) are highlighting the progressive deterioration of the city's historic center and, in particular, the situation of Via Santa Croce, which has long been closed due to the presence of a building deemed unsafe.

The document emphasizes how the historic center represents a fundamental urban, social, and identity-building asset for Casoria, a place of collective memory and the daily life of many residents. However, this part of the city has been in critical condition for years, marked by poor maintenance, structural problems, and a general lack of comprehensive redevelopment efforts, with obvious impacts on the quality of life of residents and the overall image of the area.

The situation on Via Santa Croce is emblematic, according to the signatories. The road closure, ordered for safety reasons related to a dangerous building, was deemed a necessary measure to protect public safety, but over time it has become a prolonged measure, with no visible solutions and increasing disruption to residents and businesses in the area.

For this reason, the question requests specific clarification on the current structural conditions of the affected building and on any recent technical inspections, as well as a summary of the administrative and technical measures adopted by the Authority since the beginning of the matter.

The requests also focus on whether there is a timetable for securing the building and reopening the road, or, failing that, the reasons for the continued closure.

Equally relevant is the issue of inconvenience to residents: the councilors asked what measures the Administration intends to adopt to reduce the impact of the closure and restore a minimum level of normality in the affected area.

The focus, however, extends beyond the single emergency. Via Santa Croce is cited as one of the signs of a broader difficulty in managing issues in the historic center, where interventions are often carried out in an emergency, without structured planning, defined responsibilities, or clear timelines.

Hence the question of whether the Municipality intends to initiate or strengthen a comprehensive redevelopment strategy for Casoria's historic center, what interventions are planned regarding building safety, urban maintenance, and the decorum and livability of public spaces, and, above all, whether the historic center is considered a real priority for administrative action.

The signatories' intention is to obtain concrete answers, dedicated resources, and a long-term vision so that the city's ancient heart can once again become a safe, livable space central to Casoria's life.

The current situation is unacceptable, the lack of action is deeply worrying, and there are no immediate solutions in sight. It is essential that we address this issue for the good of the community.

I agree with what you wrote; the closure of Via Santa Croce has caused a lot of inconvenience for all of us. We hope the administration takes these issues seriously.

The article highlights situations of degradation that have been evident for some time, but I wonder if the municipality actually has a plan to fix all this. Residents deserve a historic center that is livable and well-maintained.
