A tragedy nearly occurred this evening in Castellammare. A Citroen, while traveling downhill from Scanzano toward the Hotel dei Congressi, ended up in a ravine below the road near the hotel parking lot.
Two people were inside. Ambulances, firefighters, and law enforcement rushed to the scene. The car likely skidded due to the wet asphalt. The fall, approximately 25 meters, destroyed the car. The two people inside were extracted alive but with numerous injuries.
They were transported to the nearby San Leonardo Hospital. The area where the car slid into the ravine was already cordoned off, and the guard rail had not been repaired for some time. The investigation will clarify the accident, its causes, and any liability.

It's incredible how things can happen in an instant. I hope the people in the car recover soon and that something is done to fix the guard rail so it doesn't happen again.
