Castellammare di Stabia – The attempted burglary that occurred last night in an apartment building at number 276 Via Napoli could have turned tragic. A commando of three criminals broke into a currently uninhabited apartment—once occupied by a man who died last May—probably unaware that no valuables were inside.

The bandits' plans were thwarted by the residents' courageous, yet risky, reaction. Noticing the strangers' presence, the building's residents raised the alarm by shouting and attempting to block the three men's path, bombarding them with objects thrown from balconies and stairways.

The fire response

Feeling hunted, the criminals didn't hesitate to use their weapons to make their escape. Before disappearing, two shots were fired into the air: according to initial investigations, one was likely a blank, while the other was a 7,65 caliber round. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the sound of the gunfire spread panic among families in the area.

Carabinieri officers from the Castellammare di Stabia Operations Section responded promptly to the scene. They conducted ballistic tests and are combing through video surveillance footage in the area to identify the three fugitives. Tensions remain high in the neighborhood, shaken by a violent incident that narrowly avoided far more serious consequences.

This news is very alarming and raises questions about security in apartment buildings. It's incredible how residents reacted, but I'm glad no one was injured. I hope the Carabinieri can find the culprits.
