The former Salesian complex in Castellammare di Stabia is entering a new phase in its history following its acquisition at auction by PAN, a Chinese company. In the days following the transaction, however, there was no shortage of critical statements and articles in the local press, to which the company has decided to officially respond.
The position of the acquiring company
Pan's legal team intervened, and in a statement released to the media, they disputed several reports deemed unfounded. "Articles were published without knowledge of the facts," the company representatives wrote, first clarifying the nature of the company: "Pan does not operate exclusively in the lighting sector; it is also a real estate company."
Restricted intended use
A key issue concerns the future function of the building. According to PAN, the former Salesian building cannot be used for purposes other than those already established in the urban planning documents: "The building cannot be used for any purpose other than tourism or hospitality."
A redevelopment and development project
The company also emphasizes the strategic value of the project, which would have prevented the complex from falling into a state of progressive abandonment. The stated objective is to create a high-quality hospitality facility, in line with the tourism potential of the Stabia area.
"Castellammare di Stabia deserves a quality offering," the statement continues, "capable of generating significant tourism, with hundreds of jobs in hotels, restaurants, and sports facilities."
Impact on the territory and appeal to the institutions
Among the positive effects announced by PAN are the redevelopment of the surrounding area and an indirect impact on the archaeological site. Hence the call to overcome fears and resistance: "No need to worry about the residents," the company representatives conclude, hoping for collaboration with all relevant agencies to accelerate "the rebirth of this magnificent structure."

The article is very interesting, but there's a lot of unclear information, and I think it's important to provide more details about what will happen to the structure. The intended use and future work need to be better explained to reassure the local population.
