An argument that broke out in a hotel room in Chieti escalated into violence between Wednesday night and Thursday.
Officers from the Chieti Police Headquarters' Flying Squad and a patrol car from the Flying Squad responded to the scene after the operations room received a report of a fight inside the building.
The injured man and the rush to the hospital
When police arrived, one of the two men involved—both hotel guests—was found on the ground with multiple stab wounds to the face and neck. His condition immediately appeared serious: he was rescued and taken to the hospital, where he is currently hospitalized with a critical prognosis.
Arrest and prison
The alleged attacker, a 27-year-old from Naples, was immediately apprehended by police. Following investigations, the man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and transferred to the Madonna del Freddo prison, where he is being held by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Investigations ongoing
The Mobile Squad is continuing its investigation to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the attack and clarify the reasons that led to the argument that escalated into a stabbing. The motives for the attack will be explored in the relationship between the two men, who apparently knew each other and had met on other occasions. The young Neapolitan man is being held in the Madonna del Fredd prison in Chieti and is being held by the judicial authorities. The investigation is being coordinated by Public Prosecutor Lucia Campo.
