On the Circumvesuviana, "there's no doubt a change of pace is needed." Roberto Fico bluntly addresses one of Campania's most criticized infrastructure projects, the line operated by EAV, which has been the focus of protests from commuters and students for years. The regional president's remarks come in the wake of a meeting between Transport Councilor Mario Casillo and EAV Administrator Umberto De Gregorio, a discussion that reignited the debate over service conditions.

For Fico, the issue is clear and urgent. "The change in pace must coincide with an increase in trains, which must run more frequently and on time," he states, tying the future of the Circumvesuviana to a principle he considers indispensable. "Public transport is a right we must guarantee to families, students, workers, and the many tourists who come to Campania."

The governor emphasizes that the work on the line isn't just a technical issue, but a political choice that impacts the quality of life and the image of the area. "That's our goal; we've just begun," he adds, announcing a shared path with the Department of Transportation. "I'll also meet with Casillo, and we'll proceed together."

A direct message signaling the desire to transform one of Italy's most problematic railway networks, recognizing that without efficient service, the Circumvesuviana will continue to be a symbol of inconvenience and delays rather than a strategic infrastructure for Campania.

In my opinion, EAV should be fired along with all its executives and management should be handed over to the state railways as in the past (Government Management). It was working well, but since EAV took over transport, everything has gone to pieces. At EAV, the entire management class doesn't understand anything about transport because they are incompetent in the sector.

This is not even the main problem, I think that putting more trains and having long stretches still with a single track is not possible

Chatter, chatter, chatter. Like everyone else. Don't talk too much, facts. We've heard too much chatter. The health system should open emergency rooms because people are dying. The trains. In Campania, we're ruined in every way.

I agree with Sanna, but we also need a long-term plan. It's not enough to simply increase the number of trains; we need to invest in infrastructure and maintenance. Only then can we have a decent service.

It's true that the Circumvesuviana needs a change of pace, but I hope it's not just words, because promises are often not kept and commuters continue to suffer from delays and the lack of trains.

Christian Levi there was this possibility.
The EAV had to be made to fail.
But De Luca and the then Renzi government avoided bankruptcy, which cost a whopping €600 million.
When you save a company from bankruptcy it's a good thing.
But I honestly think it would have been better to fail and then start over again.
an example is the Napoli football club.
Went from failure to winning team.

Michele Pascarella, you're so good that you think that this guy didn't check the case before speaking, it's not like this government that first does stupid things and then finds itself in deep shit.

Laura Ricciardi, if I had these powers, that's the first thing I'd do. You, who defend indefensible people, are perhaps one of them.

Giovanni Di Palma, for the majority of the people of Campania, likes this type of administration. The tool for change was to go to the polls but 60 percent preferred abstention, the
The majority of that 40 percent preferred Fico. So you just have to laugh so you don't cry!

Restoring the Ercolano Scavi stop is a moral obligation as well as a duty of responsible politics... closing off a World Heritage Site to thousands of Italian and foreign tourists cannot remain a political strategy tied to power struggles.
