Rome – The Ministry of Culture (MiC) is welcoming 1.800 new staff. The public competition for full-time, permanent positions in the Assistants Department has been officially published.

The procedure, managed by the RIPAM Commission in collaboration with Formez PA, represents one of the most impressive recruitment maneuvers in recent years in the cultural heritage sector.

The two profiles sought: between hospitality and technical expertise

The competition is not a single one, but is divided into two distinct professional paths. Candidates must carefully choose which code to compete for, as only one profile is permitted:

Code 01 (1.500 positions): Assistant for Protection, Reception, and Surveillance. This is the key figure in the day-to-day management of museums and archaeological sites, focusing on safety and public support.

Code 02 (300 positions): Technical Assistant for Protection and Enhancement. A more operational and specialized profile, designed to support conservation and restoration activities.

Requirements: a high school diploma is sufficient (but certified email is required)

To access the selection process, a high school diploma (maturità) is sufficient; a university degree is therefore not required. The general requirements for public employment remain unchanged: Italian or EU citizenship, physical fitness, and enjoyment of civil and political rights.

The real bureaucratic watershed, however, is digital: the application must be submitted exclusively on the inPA Portal (subject to SPID/CIE/CNS authentication), but a personal Certified Email (PEC) address is mandatory. Without a PEC, the candidate will not receive legal and official communications and risks being excluded.

The exam: a single "lightning" test

There will be no endless oral or pre-selection tests. The competition will be decided by a single computerized written test: 40 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes. The test will be structured as follows:

10 common questions (Administrative, Criminal, English and IT Law);

15 specialist questions (Marketing and security for Code 01; Archaeology and art history for Code 02);

7 logic questions;

8 situational questions to assess candidate reactions in practical work contexts.

The minimum pass mark is 21/30. Please note: the administration has already confirmed that no database will be published before the exam.

Deadlines and costs
Time is running out: interested parties have 30 days from the date of publication on the inPA portal to submit their application. A participation fee of €10 is required.

Once the regional rankings are drawn up, successful candidates will be able to choose their destination based on their scores. Furthermore, thanks to the rankings' sliding mechanism, there are also opportunities for eligible candidates who did not win in the event of a withdrawal.

Want to prepare for this exam? I can help you delve deeper into the specific subjects of your chosen profile (Code 01 or 02) or explain how to properly activate your certified email (PEC).

This contest is very interesting, but I have some doubts about submitting the application. The deadline seems a bit short, and you need certified email (PEC), which not everyone has. I hope there's enough information for everyone.
