Caserta, woman sentenced to volunteer work for damaging her partner's ex-wife's car

Seven months of community service at a welfare organization in lieu of a prison sentence and compensation for damages to the civil plaintiff. This is the decision of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere.

Santa Maria Capua Vetere – Seven months of volunteer service at a charitable organization, in lieu of a prison sentence, and an order to pay damages to the civil plaintiff. This sentence was handed down today by Judge Valerio Riello of the Third Criminal Section of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere against Olga Kharin, 46, a Ukrainian citizen who has long resided in the city, where she works as a beautician.

The woman was charged with aggravated damage. Public Prosecutor Albenzio Ricciardiello supported the accusation, while the defense was handled by lawyer Vincenzo Anastasio.
According to the reconstruction of the trial, the events date back to mid-January of last year and apparently occurred in Sant'Angelo in Formis.

Olga Kharin allegedly damaged the car of CR, the ex-wife of her current partner – a carabiniere – by initially hitting the car with a plaster statue of the Madonna and, subsequently, throwing a large stone that shattered the rear window of the vehicle.

The car was parked on the street, outside the victim's home.
The incident, as revealed in court, was based on jealousy. The victim filed a complaint with the Capua Carabinieri Headquarters, which, on behalf of the Prosecutor's Office, initiated an investigation.

The videos acquired, shot with a mobile phone, were crucial for evidentiary purposes.

During the preliminary investigation, several witnesses were interviewed, including the victim's ex-husband, who confirmed having noticed shards of glass next to the car. CR joined the proceedings as a civil plaintiff, assisted by attorneys Raffaele and Gaetano Crisileo.

At the end of the trial, the judge found the defendant guilty, ordering the alternative penalty of community service and compensation for damages in favor of the civil plaintiff.
