Naples – An inmate belonging to the high-security AS1 circuit died yesterday inside the T1 section of the Secondigliano prison in Naples.
The cause of death is not yet known and will be determined by the judicial authorities, called upon to clarify the dynamics of the incident.
Si.NAPPe (National Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police) intervened on the episode, placing the inmate's death within a context of serious and persistent criticality that has long affected the Neapolitan penitentiary institution.
According to the union, unrest, critical incidents, and operational tensions are constantly increasing, with significant repercussions on internal security and staff working conditions.
"For months, we've been calling for concrete interventions regarding the organization, workloads, and management of the most complex departments," says Roberto Santini, general secretary of Si.NAPPe. "It's no longer acceptable to intervene only after the most serious incidents: immediate structural action is needed."
Finally, the union appeals to the Head of the Department of Penitentiary Administration, urging urgent intervention and a thorough assessment of the situation at Secondigliano prison to restore adequate safety conditions and ensure the protection of prison police personnel.

It's important to clarify this event, but also the conditions of the inmates and police personnel. Safety must be a priority for everyone, not just after tragedies.
