Naples – The De Pierro Movement for Rights in Italy is launching an appeal regarding the critical issues affecting traffic along the Riviera di Chiaia, where work is underway on the new tram line between San Giovanni and Piazza Sannazaro.

The project, envisaged by the Municipality with Management Ordinance No. 1844 of October 16, 2025, was authorized from October 27, 2025, to January 13, 2026, and involves the laying of new tracks and the reorganization of urban mobility.

Citizens in difficulty: diversions and restrictions

Despite the regularity of the interventions, the movement report emphasizes that residents were not provided with clear and safe alternative routes. Consequently, the daily mobility of residents, workers, and public transport users was severely compromised.

Mandatory detours, bus route changes, and lane narrowings have made travel slower and more complex, with obvious impacts on everyday life.

The words of the representatives of the movement

Maira Nacar, Neapolitan provincial secretary of Italia dei Diritti De Pierro and member of the National Board, states:
"We don't question the legitimacy of the work, but we strongly emphasize the practical inconvenience it causes for residents. Those who live and work in this area deserve clear, safe routes and mobility that doesn't compromise their daily lives."

Carlo Spinelli, the movement's national head of internal policy, added:
Infrastructure projects must include adequate mobility management measures to reduce the impact on citizens and public transport users. Greater attention in this regard is urgently needed.

Antonello De Pierro, founder and president of Italia dei Diritti De Pierro, concludes:
"What we're asking for isn't just the end of the work, but planning that also takes into account people's daily lives. The next step must ensure urban decorum and usability of the spaces."

It's true that the work is necessary, but organization seems lacking. People need safe ways to get around, not just new tram lines without thinking about their daily lives.

The Riviera di Chiaia road system is experiencing numerous problems, and residents have no clear route. Diversions and road restrictions make everything more difficult for those who live in the area; a solution is needed.
