The Carabinieri continue their relentless efforts to protect the environment and public health. This morning, officers from the Cancello and Arnone stations conducted a targeted inspection to combat waste dumping and uncontrolled dumping, uncovering serious irregularities.
Agricultural land transformed into a landfill
During the investigation, the Carabinieri determined that a farm located in Mazzoni, a peripheral area of the municipality, had been used as an illegal landfill. Numerous non-hazardous waste items were found on the land, including discarded appliances, tires, ferrous and wooden materials, as well as discarded agricultural equipment.
The landowner, a woman resident in the area, was reported at large to the judicial authorities for violations of environmental regulations. The entire area was placed under seizure to prevent further environmental damage.
Illegal waste transportation: a complaint
In the same operational context, Carabinieri officers intercepted a local youth transporting waste without the required permits. The man was stopped while driving a vehicle with foreign license plates, loaded with scrap metal, small appliances, plastic car parts, tires, and aluminum.
The investigation also revealed that the driver did not have a driving license. In this case, too, a report was filed, while further investigations are ongoing.
Activity included in a broader plan
The Carabinieri promptly notified the Judicial Authority. The operation is part of a broader plan of local controls aimed at preventing and suppressing illegal waste management practices and safeguarding the environment and public safety.
