Six people ended up in prison as part of an operation coordinated by the Naples District Anti-Mafia Directorate against the Rea-Veneruso Camorra clan, active between Casalnuovo di Napoli, Volla and the surrounding municipalities.

The restrictive measures were carried out by the Investigative Unit of the Torre Annunziata Carabinieri Group, pursuant to a precautionary custody order issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Naples.

The suspects are seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of extortion, aggravated by mafia methods and aimed at facilitating the activities of the criminal organization. According to the investigation, they allegedly repeatedly threatened to pay sums of money to several businessmen operating in the Casalnuovo area.

The extortion demands, according to the prosecution, were intended to allow the victims to continue their regular work activities, in a context of intimidation typically associated with Camorra dynamics. A system of constant pressure that would have strengthened the clan's control over the local economy.

The operation is part of a broader strategy to combat criminal organizations rooted in the area north of Naples, aiming to target not only their members but also the extortion schemes that are stifling the region's productive and entrepreneurial fabric.
