The discovery of the body of Federica Torzullo, who disappeared last January, marks a crucial point in the investigation involving her husband, now transferred to prison; the truth, buried in the reeds, awaits further investigation.
The body of a woman was exhumed by the Carabinieri in a reed bed in Anguillara Sabazia, behind Claudio Agostino Carlomagno's business.
Based on the clothing and objects found on the body, it is presumed that she is Federica Torzullo, the forty-one-year-old woman who disappeared on January 8th. Formal identification will take place at the Verano morgue in Rome, where the body will be transferred for forensic examination.
After the body was found, Carlomagno, the woman's husband and already under investigation for murder, left the Carabinieri barracks in Anguillara Sabazia and was transferred to the prison in Civitavecchia.
"From what I understand, his intention was to report to the police station, but he was stopped first," said the man's defense attorney, Andrea Miroli. "He's in the police station, and I imagine he'll be transferred to prison in the next few hours," the lawyer added, reiterating that his client had not evaded the authorities.
The body was found buried in a green area adjacent to the company attributed to Carlomagno. The autopsy and further investigation will now clarify the cause of death and reconstruct Federica Torzullo's final hours.
The investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, is continuing to precisely define responsibility and the circumstances surrounding the murder.
