Naples – Campania Regional President Roberto Fico presented the composition of the Regional Council he appointed today to the Regional Council, presenting it as a "clear expression of the diverse political souls of the coalition" that supported him in last November's elections.

In his speech to the Chamber, Fico strongly emphasized the connection with the local area and the leading role of political forces: "I am firmly convinced of the central role of political forces," he declared, "a belief that stems from my personal journey, which began precisely with the needs of citizens and the need to bring their voices to the institutions."

The governor, elected on November 24, 2025, with a broad consensus at the head of a broad progressive alliance (PD, M5S, Avanti Campania, Italia Viva, Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, and other civic lists), expressed full confidence in the government team: "I am certain that my colleagues will be able to best support me in the responsibility of administering an important and complex region like ours."

The Council—composed of ten councilors, with Fico reserving for himself key responsibilities for Healthcare, Budget, and European Funds—was designed to provide a balanced representation of the various components of the majority. "We have shared a clear political project," the president added, "and now we are all at the service of the region and its citizens."

Fico then outlined the guidelines for administrative action in the coming months and years. Among the priorities indicated: combating social inequalities;
the protection of the environment and the territory;
the resolution of critical issues in healthcare;
efficient and modern public transport;
the enhancement of internal areas;
the promotion of Campania's excellence;
business support;
concrete opportunities for young people, with "a real idea of the future."

The President also guaranteed a fair and collaborative institutional relationship with the entire Regional Council: "The Regional Council will base its actions on loyal collaboration with both the majority and the opposition, always pursuing the collective interest alone." The first operational meeting of the Regional Council is scheduled for the coming days to begin the process of drafting the budget bill, which will then be submitted to the Chamber for approval.

"This is the regional administration's top priority," Fico concluded, "in the interests of both the executive and the Council." The action was closely followed by councilors, in a session marking the formal launch of the new legislature after the lengthy post-election period.

Roberto Fico's election as president of the Campania Region seems like an important step, but I hope his promises aren't just words. It's essential that the Regional Council truly works for the citizens, not just for politics.
