Foggia – An armored van was attacked on the Foggia section of the A14 Bologna–Taranto motorway. The robbery occurred at kilometer marker 595, between Cerignola Est and the junction for the A16 Naples–Canosa motorway, heading south.
According to initial investigations, an armed gang targeted an armored vehicle, firing shots to intimidate and using explosives to open the van. After the attack, the robbers fled, setting fire to three vehicles, aiming to delay the arrival of law enforcement.
The Highway Police responded to the scene and began an investigation, while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. The affected section of the highway was closed to traffic, severely impacting traffic.

For vehicles heading towards Bari, a mandatory exit has been established at Cerignola Est, where there is approximately one kilometer of traffic jam. The recommended alternative route involves merging onto the SS16 Adriatica highway towards Bari, then towards Canosa-Barletta, rejoining the A14 at Canosa. Traffic heading towards Pescara follows the reverse route.
Further disruption is also expected for those coming from the A16 Naples–Canosa motorway and heading towards Pescara: the recommended exit is Cerignola Ovest, with regular road access to Cerignola Est. Traffic jams of up to three kilometers are reported in the direction of Pescara due to debris on the road after the junction with the A16 motorway.
Autostrade per l'Italia staff were also present on site to manage the emergency and traffic.

This attack on an armored van was truly unbelievable and dangerous. I don't understand how it could happen on such a crowded highway. We need more security for armored vehicles and for motorists passing by.
