A long and dangerous pursuit between the Caserta area and northern Naples ended with the arrest of a 28-year-old man from Boscoreale, stopped by the Carabinieri for resisting a public officer and possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The incident occurred late yesterday afternoon in Trentola Ducenta, where a patrol from the local Carabinieri station had ordered a Fiat 500 belonging to a rental company to stop.
Upon seeing the officers, however, the driver decided to break the traffic control, fleeing at high speed in an attempt to elude the Carabinieri. During his evasive maneuvers, the man struck the service car, causing minor damage, but did not stop. The chase continued for several kilometers, crossing several municipalities, until reaching Giugliano in Campania.
While fleeing, the 28-year-old threw a package out of the car window, which was recovered shortly after by the Carabinieri and found to contain 0,6 grams of cocaine. The chase ended when the officers managed to catch up with and apprehend the fugitive, ending a potentially dangerous situation for other motorists. After the usual formalities and the seizure of the narcotic, the man was arrested and placed under house arrest at his home, pending a validation hearing before the judicial authorities.
Carabinieri from the Trentola Ducenta station executed a warrant for the arrest of a 36-year-old man, a resident of the city, who was sentenced to two years in prison for mistreatment of family members and personal injury.
