Naples - An ambush may have been foiled overnight in Fuorigrotta. Carabinieri from the Naples-Bagnoli Company Operations Unit arrested three men, all already known to law enforcement, after a traffic stop on Viale JF Kennedy.
The arrest occurred around 2:00 a.m. while they were traveling in a rental car. Emanuele Luigi Guarino, 35, Domenico Ronga, 34, and Alessandro Sorvino, 20, were arrested.
During the inspection of the vehicle the soldiers found a Beretta FS pistol caliber
9x19 Parabellum with the serial number erased, hidden behind the front seats. The weapon was reportedly ready for use: a round in the chamber and a magazine loaded with 14 rounds.
Also seized were a small knife and two box cutters, a bag of marijuana, some jewelry whose provenance the three were unable to explain, and approximately 3 euros in cash.
The three were taken to prison and face charges of possession of an unlicensed weapon. The gun will be subjected to fingerprint and ballistic tests to determine whether it had been used in previous crimes.

The article talks about an ambush that may have been foiled, but it's unclear what evidence there is. The three men have been arrested, but nothing more is known about their previous actions, and clearly, many questions remain unanswered.
